We recognize the reality and danger of death. We are tempted to measure the value of our lives by the legacy we leave behind or the memories others hold of us after we are gone. And we cannot help but wonder what will happen when our souls separate from our bodies—whether we might also be separated from God forever. But Jesus promises something far better. He promises life. One day we will be reunited with our believing loved ones, both body and soul, and we will live with Jesus forever. During his ministry, Jesus even raised the dead to prove his power over death. That is exactly the power we need.
