My Lord Lives and Gives Me Hope

Every culture has the concept of an ideal citizen, someone who typifies its values. For the people of Israel, it was the shepherd. Sheep were an invaluable source of clothing and food, and their survival was dependent on their shepherd. Jesus chose the shepherd to illustrate how he cares for us. He feeds us with his Word. He protects us from our spiritual enemies. Jesus is leading us into the green pasture of eternal life.

When Jesus died, his followers felt hopeless. Their hope for a better life died along with Jesus. So, after Jesus rose from the dead he appeared to his disciples. He opened their minds to the truth of God’s Word. In doing so, he restored their hope. The one who lives, lives to restore your hope.
