Sermon: “The Ambitious Church Proclaims Christ Clearly”

In Jesus’ day, some thought he was John the Baptist or the prophet Elijah. Their opinion of Jesus was high, but it wasn’t close enough. Today many people believe Jesus was a wise teacher or even a role model to follow. Their opinion of Jesus is high, but not close enough. Jesus is Lord and Savior–he is the son of God. This is the message which the ambiguous church proclaims.

Very often when we speak of ambition those ambitions are driven by our personal thoughts, desires, and opinions. The church has been created by God for his purposes, rather being driven by our own desires we are driven by what God wants for us. We are ambitious to carry out God's ambitions.
